One of the great benefits of living in Bend is all of the great concerts that are available during the summer. What makes it even better is how many of them are free.
It would be interesting to add up how many bands perform for free in Bend each year at festivals, fairs and assorted sponsored events. It has to be over 100 but that is a post for a different time. This post is about the eight free concerts that will be held Sunday afternoons this summer at the Les Schwab Amphitheater.
The first show is this Sunday, June 10 from 2:30 – 4:30 with Poor Moon performing. They are billed as a folk rock band. I listened to a couple of their songs and my first thought was that they sound like a band from the ’60’s. Something between the Mama’s and the Papa’s and Simon and Garfunkel.
There is food and drink available for purchase during the Sunday Summer Concerts and it looks like Boneyard Beer will be supplying the adult refreshments so grab a blanket or some lawnchairs and come on down.
Here is the rest of the schedule for the Summer Sunday Concerts. Be sure to note that there is not a concert every Sunday.
June 10 – Poor Moon (folk rock)
June 17 – Harley Bourbon (punk grass)
June 24 – Y La Bamba (Mex-American folk)
July 1 – MOsely WOtta (hip hop)
July 8 – Portland Cello Project (indie orchestra)
July 22 – The Farewell Drifters
July 29 – Paul Thorn (roots)
August 12 – The Features (off-kilter pop)
